Our preschool discovery classes are a wonderful introduction to The Museum. Bringing together guided gallery exploration with a themed story and hands-on activities, these hour-long classes are a perfect way to make our collection accessible to young learners.
Choose from one of the four themes below, or contact us to arrange a tour of specific galleries or special exhibitions. Preschool tours are available Monday through Friday between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
Make an animal mask then explore our galleries that are full of animals from the past and present. Touch fossils of animals that lived in Pennsylvania millions of years ago, then go on an animal hunt as you learn about camouflage.
This tour is only available April through October. Pretend you are an insect as you learn how ants live underground. Then explore bugs in our collections and bugs outside!
Experience medieval times as your train to become a knight of the classroom, see armor worn by real knights, hear a story about a knight, and make a dragon to take home.
Get an introduction to the Night Sky as you make your own constellation and then see our full-dome planetarium show "Animals of the Sky.”
For preschool tours we ask that you bring one adult for every 10 students. All chaperones must stay with their group while rotating through The Museum galleries. Behavior of your group while at The Museum is the responsibility of your group chaperones.
