The Museum is the perfect place for your scouts to visit and workshop! From our collections featuring a 2,000-year-old mummy to art from around the world, to our 25-acre Arboretum, to our state-of-the-art Neag Planetarium, we have many incredible experiences to share with your scouts. All workshops are led by qualified, enthusiastic Museum Educators. The Reading Public Museum offers scheduled workshops and overnights that align with its mission and the requirements for various Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, and Scouts BSA, badges, adventures, and awards. 

 

What we offer:

• Private Workshops and Overnights for Girl Scouts. Choose from our complete list of scout programs. Click here for program request form containing all details, options, and pricing. Registration is required. Call or email today to book your troop's Private workshop. 

• Scheduled Scout Events for Girl Scouts. Choose to come to The Museum for a pre-scheduled workshop! See below for current workshops, dates, and times. Click the appropriate link to register under each event. Registration is required. Click here for scheduled event registration form.

• Other Club and Scouting Organizations: Are you a member of another scouting group, club, or organization? Contact us to schedule a workshop or overnight tailored to your organization and achievement requirements.

GSUSA Scheduled Events Winter 2025 - Spring 2026

All scheduled events require registration. A minimum of 1 adult must accompany every 10 scouts. Individual scouts must be accompanied by an adult regardless of age. Each group must agree to comply with all of Reading Public Museum's current health and safety protocols.

Registration closes 1 week prior to the date of the program. Minimum enrollment must be met for the program to run. Program fees are non-refundable. The Museum reserves the right to cancel a program at any time; refunds will be at the discretion of The Museum.

GSEP: Craft and Tinker Through Time

"Craft and Tinker Through Time" invites Girl Scouts to explore art and creativity across different eras. From traditional handcrafts to modern DIY projects, girls will create unique pieces inspired by history. Along the way, they’ll discover how artistic expression and crafting techniques have evolved through time. As part of this workshop, scouts will have the opportunity to visit Dressing the Abbey if they wish!

For Daisy, Brownie, and Junior Scouts. Includes appropriate level of Craft & Tinker badge and return passes to The Museum for all participants. 1 Adult for every 10 scouts required to attend.

GSUSA: Don’t Let the Scout Illustrate!

Discover the art of storytelling through pictures in this fun Girl Scout workshop on comics and illustration. Girls will learn to create characters, design panels, and express ideas visually. By the end, each scout will leave with her own mini comic to share! As part of this workshop, scouts will have the opportunity to visit The Pigeon Comes to Reading: The Mo Willems Exhibit and experience Mo Willems beloved characters on a large scale!

For Daisy, Brownie, Junior, and Cadette Scouts. Includes either Daisy Art & Design, Brownie Art & Design, Junior Scribe, or Cadette Comic Artist badge, and return passes to The Museum for all participants. 1 Adult for every 10 scouts required to attend.

Sunday, 12/14/25 – 9am-Noon

GSUSA: Juliette’s Way: An Etiquette Adventure

Step back in time with Juliette Gordon Low and learn the fun side of manners! From tea party etiquette to kind introductions, Scouts will practice courtesy with a smile. Every girl will leave ready to shine with confidence and Girl Scout spirit! As part of this workshop, scouts will have the opportunity to visit Dressing the Abbey if they wish!

For Junior Scouts. Includes Junior Playing the Past AND Junior Social Butterfly badges and return passes to The Museum for all participants. 1 Adult for every 10 scouts required to attend.

GSUSA: World Thinking Day at The Museum

Celebrate World Thinking Day by exploring cultures and traditions from around the globe. Scouts will discover how girls everywhere make the world brighter through friendship and service. Together, we’ll honor our global sisterhood with fun activities, stories, and new connections.

For All Scout Level. Includes World Thinking Day 2026 Award and return passes to The Museum for all participants. 1 Adult for every 10 scouts required to attend.

GSUSA: Brownie: World of Girls Journey

Travel the globe through stories and activities that show how girls live all around the world.
Brownies will explore different cultures, discover what makes each girl unique, and see what we all share.
By the end, girls will be inspired to take action and make the world better—together!

For Brownie Scouts. Includes Brownie World of Girls Journey Award and return passes to The Museum for all participants. *Take Action Project NOT included. 1 Adult for every 10 scouts required to attend.

GSUSA: Re-Discovering Native America Overnight

Join us for an overnight adventure exploring the rich traditions and stories of Native American cultures.
Scouts will enjoy crafts, games, and activities that honor history, community, and connection to nature.
Through learning and sharing, girls will celebrate respect, friendship, and the spirit of togetherness. 

For Junior, Cadette, Senior, and Ambassador Scouts. Includes Native American Heritage Month Patch, “I Slept at RPM” patch, light continental breakfast, and return passes to The Museum for all participants. 1 Adult for every 10 scouts required to attend.

GSUSA: Cadette: Trees

Cadettes will team up to protect nature’s giants through crafts, outdoor fun, and eco discoveries.
By the end, they’ll earn their place as true defenders of the forest.

For Cadette Scouts. Includes Cadette Trees badge and return passes to The Museum for all participants. 1 Adult for every 10 scouts required to attend.

Saturday, 4/18/26 – 1pm-4pm

GSUSA: Junior: Gardener

Dig in and discover the magic of gardening as Juniors learn how plants grow and thrive. Girls will explore soil, seeds, and sunlight through fun, hands-on planting activities. By the end, they’ll create their own green space and take home the joy of growing!

For Junior Scouts. Includes Junior Gardener badge and return passes to The Museum for all participants. 1 Adult for every 10 scouts required to attend.
