January-March
Sunday Planetarium Schedule
1pm – Jack Frost and the Skies of Winter
Jack Frost teaches the children and the audience about stars and winter constellation lore, and facts about
star color and temperature, as well as an open-minded and imaginative approach to better understand the
stellar pictures.
2pm – Earth, Moon & Sun
This planetarium show explores the relationship between the Earth, moon and sun with the help of Coyote, an
amusing character adapted from Native American oral traditions who has many misconceptions about our
home planet and its most familiar neighbors. His confusion about the universe makes viewers think about
how the Earth, moon and sun work together as a system. Native American stories are used throughout the
show to help distinguish between myths and science.
3pm – Unseen Earth
What does the Earth look like? In the crystal-clear lenses of satellites, our planet reveals itself in unexpected
colors and patterns, delivering enormous amounts of data back to Earth. This show presents the story of how
satellite technologies have revolutionized our understanding of our home. We witness Earth not merely as a
static blue marble but as a dynamic, ever-changing ecosystem. Discover how continuous advancements in
satellite techniques and coordinated global earth observation programs empower us to monitor our planet
more accurately than ever before and respond more effectively to its ongoing transformations
4pm – Messengers of Time and Space
A new age of astronomy is just about to start that will allow researchers to capture exploding stars, colliding
black holes and other cosmic cataclysms in real time. “Messengers of Time and Space” is designed to
illuminate the imminent revolution in astronomy driven by time-domain and multi-messenger observations.
This immersive experience invites audiences to explore the dynamic cosmos and witness the transformative
impact of real-time data on our understanding of the Universe.
