The Museum is the perfect place to bring your group for an outing.  Guided tours of The Museum for preschool, K-12, college, extracurricular groups, adults, seniors, and special needs groups are available all year long. We can help tailor a visit just for your group based on any of our special exhibits, permanent collections, Planetarium, or Arboretum.

It is best to plan your visit as soon as you are able, even if it is months in advance. Last minute requests may not be accommodated due to limited staff availability. We prefer to have at least three weeks' notice for all groups. Occasionally we can schedule small group visits within a week of your requested date, depending on availability.

Arrival

The group leader must check-in at The Museum Admissions Desk for group tours at either the Museum or the Planetarium while the group remains on the bus. Any visitors, in addition to the prepaid amount, must be paid for at the time of arrival. Please make this in one payment. Individual cash or credit card payments will not be accepted.

Buses can park in two bus-designated spots in front of The Museum on the creek-side of the driveway. If those two spots are in use, buses can park along Parkside Drive South. Buses may not park in the main Museum lot.

If you find that you will be arriving more than 15 minutes late, we may need to reschedule your group. If your group is rescheduled due to lateness or cancelation the day of your visit, you will forfeit your original deposit and a new deposit for a rescheduled date must be paid (certain exceptions will be made for inclement weather). If your group is a "no-show" on your scheduled date, you will forfeit your deposit and any final payment that was made. If you must cancel your tour, please allow at least 48 hours' notice.

Lunch

We have a very small café located in The Museum. This is not suitable for larger groups. If you are a school planning to eat lunch during your visit, please bring a packed lunch for each student, we do not provide lunch. If possible, we ask you to eat your lunch outside. If this is not a possibility, we can make arrangements to have some space available where your group can eat inside.

Group Visit Policies

For the safety of your group and The Museum collections we ask that all groups follow the rules below. Please make sure your students, staff, and chaperones are aware of these policies ahead of time:

No photographs may be taken during the tour. After the tour, the group must adhere to the standard Museum photography policies, as posted.

There is a general no touching policy at The Museum. Unless you are instructed to touch by your Museum Guide or the exhibit is meant to be hands-on, please do not touch.

No food, drink, or backpacks are allowed in the galleries. Arrangements can be made to leave lunches and belongings in designated areas. The Museum is not responsible for lost articles.

Cost

Pricing may vary by group type. Group rates apply to groups of 10 or more. A visit may be planned for less than 10 however the group will be charged for 10 people. Museum Membership discounts, free admission passes, library passes, or other discounts cannot be used for group visits. Grant assistance is available.

Deposit: A $50 non-refundable deposit is required to hold your date, due upon receipt of your confirmation. Your visit date is not reserved until we receive the deposit and you receive confirmation of payment. The $50 deposit will be deducted from your final balance.

Final Payment: We must receive final payment and group count one (1) week before your visit in order to keep your scheduled visit. Refunds will NOT be issued once final payment has been made. Your group must be paid in full before we can let you tour The Museum.

Thanks to our generous donors, we are pleased to be able to offer funds to help students of all ages and backgrounds come to The Museum. Learn more about the Feed Their Imagination program.
