We are pleased to announce significant new scholarship on two sixteenth century stained glass windows in the permanent collection.
The panels will be displayed in the European Gallery on The Museum’s second floor beginning Thursday, Sept. 15, in custom-built light boxes, and accompanied by text detailing their newly discovered history and attribution.
Join us as we unveil the glass panels and learn more about their story from Catharine Ingersoll, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Art History at Virginia Military Institute on Thursday, Sept. 15 at 5:30pm. Light refreshaments will be served.
Catharine Ingersoll is Associate Professor of Art History at Virginia Military Institute in Lexington, Virginia, where she began teaching in 2015. She received her M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin and previously held an Albrecht Dürer Fellowship at the Germanisches National Museum in Nuremberg, Germany. Her research focuses on southern German visual and material culture in the late medieval and Renaissance periods, with publications examining artistic patronage among members of the court of the Bavarian Duke Ludwig X.
