Get into the Holiday Spirit as you travel with the Reading Public Museum to the Brandywine River Valley! Our first stop will be a festive visit to Longwood Gardens to view “A Longwood Christmas” which will showcase the dramatically beautiful contrasts of fire and ice. Set your spirits ablaze with towering trees adorned in amber to fiery red tones, flickering flame lanterns, and an inviting mountain retreat, complemented by icy-hued plantings, a “frozen” succulent fountain, and a refreshing alpine waterway that is the ultimate winter wonderland. Guests will enjoy a fresh seasonal lunch at Brandywine Prime at the Historic Chadds Ford Inn. Guests will conclude the day at the Brandywine River Museum of Art where we will view America’s Impressionism: Echoes of a Revolution.

One of the most enduring—yet complex and even contradictory—styles of art ever produced in this country, American Impressionism captured and held public attention for more than a century. This exhibition presents the story of American artists coming to terms with a new modern style through approximately 50 important works drawn from public and private collections across the country.
