Art of Looking
Thursday, December 1st, 3:30-4:30pm
The Art of Looking is a program that will deepen your ability to make experiences with art more meaningful. Using guided looking, viewers will look closely at The Museum’s newest acquisition Aldro Thompson Hibbard’s Gloucester Harbor (c.1920-1930) to notice the formal aspects of the work: color, line and shape but also thoughts and feeling, responses to the work of art that evolve over time. Participants will engage in discussion to share different experiences. This focused act of looking allows viewers to make a work of art their own since it reveals a personal view that only the person looking can have. This program is presented by Florence Gelo, DMIN, NCPSYA associate professor in the Department of Family, Community & Preventive Medicine at Drexel University.
