Art of Collecting Bus Trip
Washington D.C.
October 4th, 2023 bus departs at 7:00 a.m.
Join the Reading Public Museum as we travel to Washington D.C. to view The Luther W. Brady Bequest exhibit at the Luther W. Brady Art Gallery at George Washington University.
Following his death in 2018, The Reading The Reading Public Museum received a landmark gift from the Estate of Dr. Luther W. Brady, Jr., an important collector and world-renowned radiation oncologist from Philadelphia. The gift includes over 120 paintings, sculptures, and works on paper by renowned twentieth and twenty-first century artists. Additionally, George Washington University received more than 130 pieces of art from artistic movements ranging from expressionism to contemporary. This fall, both the Reading Public Museum and The Luther W. Brady Art Gallery at George Washington University will be exhibiting their respective halves of these monumental bequests.
This trip will feature a catered lunch at George Washington University, special presentations by about the works in the collection, and a unique opportunity to view the works bequeathed to George Washington University.
Guests in attendance on this trip will also receive a complimentary copy of the collection catalogue that is a joint project between The Brady Art Gallery and the Reading Public Museum. This book will detail the specifics of a curated exhibit — including research and writing by GW students who completed a graduate seminar this spring where they learned about mid-20th century art and museum curation, the release states.
Cost: Includes transportation, admission, lunch, and collection catalogue.
