Art History Short Course: The Art of American Illustration
From beloved magazine covers and storybooks to postcards and advertisements, American illustration has shaped the way generations of Americans have imagined their country—and themselves. This four-part Art History Short Course explores the remarkable artists, styles, and stories behind this uniquely American art form. Discover the Brandywine Valley artists who transformed American illustration, explore the colorful world of postcard art, step into Norman Rockwell’s vision of everyday life, and uncover the often-overlooked contributions of women illustrators. Together, these lectures reveal how illustration helped shape our notions of America and contributed deeply to the fine arts.
