Arthur’s Visit to The Museum
On Saturday, September 28, The Museum celebrated the opening of our new exhibition, Arthur’s™ World! With the help of Arthur himself and PBS’s Tele-Bear, we welcomed lots of friends to The Museum, old and new, for a day filled with crafts, books, photos, and laughs.
New Pathway Opening
Officials gathered Wednesday to celebrate the opening of new pathways in the Reading Public Museum arboretum – a project that was completed thanks to a recent state grant. That $250,000 grant was secured with the assistance of Sen. Judy Schwank.

American Impressionists Dazzle At Polk Museum Of Art In Lakeland, Florida
Introduction to these artists and their early 20th century contemporaries represents the great value of Across the Atlantic: American Impressionism through the French Lens on view at the Polk Museum of Art at Florida Southern College in Lakeland, Florida through October 13.
From the Collection: Leather slippers
The pointed toes and heelless backs are characteristic of balgha, or slippers that are part of the traditional dress in the Maghreb (the Arabic region of northern Africa).
From the Collection: Apollo 11 Moon Landing
On July 16, 1969, Apollo 11 launched from Cape Kennedy (now Cape Canaveral). On board were Commander Neil Armstrong, Command Module Pilot Michael Collins, and Lunar Module Pilot Buzz Aldrin.
Neag Planetarium Celebrating Apollo 11
All week throughout the country, many have celebrated the 50th anniversary of the moon landing and in Reading, there is a spot that draws stargazers and space enthusiasts daily. The Neag Planetarium is located on the campus of the Reading Public Museum.

Happy birthday to Camille Pissarro! Born in 1830 in the Danish West Indies (now the US Virgin Islands), French painter Camille Pissarro was a prominent participant in the Impressionism movement.

A hero of the American Revolution, John Paul Jones (1747-1792) was called to Paris in 1779 to command the French frigate Bonhomme Richard, with which he won a famous naval victory over the British vessel Serapis.
