Hiroshige in Albany
The latest exhibition to open at the Albany Institute of History and Art is a journey of more than 50 prints. Each of the prints in the exhibition was created by Utagawa Hiroshige, a Japanese artist who worked to capture the landscapes and life found on the Tokaido Road, which stretched over 300 miles and connected what is now Tokyo and Kyoto.

On The Flip Side
Collectors, curators and museum staff spend a lot of time researching and documenting works of art in their collections to establish its history, also known as provenance, and clues that help tell its story, which can sometimes be revealed by simply turning a painting over.
Animals Around the World at The Museum
The Reading Public Museum is now home to a plethora of new species. Some lions. Some bears. No tigers. The Natural Science Gallery at the museum has received a makeover and is now the Animal Habitats of the World gallery.
Best “Lesser” Known Museums in the Northeast
hink “World Class Art Museums in the Northeast USA” and big city “majors” come to mind: The Metropolitan Museum of Art in NY, Museum of Fine Arts Boston, and the Philadelphia Museum of Art, to start. Of course, all of these institutions are worthy of note, and are covered extensively by the press.
American Impressionism at the Haggin Museum
Impressionism often brings to mind the works of Monet, Degas and Renoir, but the artistic movement had American masters, too. A new exhibit at the Haggin Museum, “American Impressionism: The Lure of the Artists’ Colony,” will be on display through March 4, 2018.
