DESCRIPTION:Museum Discovery Camp 2026\nKeep your child learning while having fun this summer!\nMuseum Discovery Camp is for children entering grades 1-5 in the fall of 2026.\nCamp days are Monday – Friday\, 9am-4pm \n\nJune 8-12: Wildlife Wonders \n\nExplore our world and learn all about the unique animals that live there. Animals are found on every corner of our planet and give us a wide variety of organisms to marvel at. This week we will learn about these wonderful creatures\, their unique habitats\, and discover our inner animal scientists!\n\n\nJune 15-19: Masterpiece Makers\n\nDa Vinci\, Rembrandt\, Haring\, Degas\, Banksy. They all have one thing in common…ART! What else do they have in common? They all needed to start somewhere. Try your hand at creating art inspired by these Masterpiece Makers and learn the skill needed to be a master of your own!\n\n\nJune 22-26: Chemical Curiosity\n\nAwaken your scientific curiosity and channel your inner mad scientist during this week of camp. Learn all about how scientists create experiments while staying safe in a lab. This week we will discover some of the building blocks of chemistry and carry out experiments of our own!\n\n\nJune 29-July 3: Global Getaway\n\nJourney across the world without needing a passport or plane ticket! Learn about the vibrant cultures of far-off places and the incredible people that live there! Explore the exotic lands of Earth without ever leaving The Museum!\n\n\nJuly 6-10: NO Camp This Week – Happy 250th Birthday\, America!\n\nJuly 13-17: Nature Detectives\n\nWhy are leaves green? How does a caterpillar become a butterfly? What causes a tornado? The nature detectives are on the case! Using our existing knowledge and exciting inquiry-based science\, we will discover how truly amazing nature is!\n\n\nJuly 20-24: Maker Mania\n\nCalling all builders\, tinkerers\, and creators! This week will challenge you to design\, test\, and build all types of creations. Can you rise to the challenges given during this week of mind-blowing maker mania?!\n\n\nJuly 27-31: Art Explorers\n\nArt has endless possibilities! People from across time and space have played with art materials and concepts to create things that make them happy and express themselves! Join the artistic movement and illustrate the real you!\n\n\nAugust 3-7: Space Voyagers\n\nThis week is sure to be out-of-this-world! We are in the middle of very exciting time in space exploration and we can’t wait to share it with you! Learn what it takes to be an astronaut and how you can explore the depths of space from down here on the Third-Rock-From-the-Sun. Earth!\n\n\nAugust 10-14: Ancient Adventures\n\nStep back in time where everything you think is old becomes shiny and new again as we visit Ancient Times! While the everyday lives of ancient people may have looked very different from ours – this week we will discover that many of the inventions and pastimes of ancient civilizations are still celebrated today! So\, get ready for some time travelling fun\, because we’re going on Ancient Adventures!\n\n\nAugust 17-21: Science Sleuths\n\nScience is VAST! It can help us solve problems\, teach us about ourselves\, and explain the phenomena of the world around us. Grab your lab coat\, put on your safety glasses\, and get your pipettes in gear as we sleuth some seriously amazing science!\n\n\n\nReservations required.\nRegistration opens Sunday\, March 1 for Museum members. Space fill up quickly! \nEarly Bird (Member: March 1 – April 30):\n(Non-Member and RSD: April 1 – April 30): \n\nMuseum Member $165/week/camper\nNon-Member $240/week/camper\nRSD Families $165/week/camper\n\nRegular (Friday\, May 1 – Close): \n\nMuseum Member $200/week/camper\nNon-Member $275/week/camper\nRSD Families $165/week/camper\n\nAll campers must be preregistered. SUMMARY:Sensory Fireworks
DESCRIPTION:Bring your friends and family out to The Neag Planetarium for our community-favorite event\, Sensory Fireworks! This event has been designed for the young and young at heart who are unable to enjoy the traditional firework show experiences that are shown for Independence Day due to the flashes of lights and/or loud boom sounds. Our staff will be on hand with special sensory bags for guests to borrow\, if needed. We will also have a couple of crafts that families can enjoy before or during the special planetarium firework shows. \nWe encourage you to bring your own blankets to lay in the middle of our Planetarium dome! If you prefer to sit in a chair\, we will have our regular planetarium chairs available as well. Please leave any toys\, holiday accessories\, and clothing or shoes that have flashing lights at home as these may impact others’ enjoyment of the show. DESCRIPTION:The Reading Public Museum strives to be a place of lifelong learning and enjoyment for guests of all ages and abilities. As a result\, we will be hosting special sensory-inclusive hours for guests and their caretakers who require a quieter atmosphere to explore The Museum. Guests who pre-register will receive a pre-visit packet with information to share with their dependent. \nRegistration is Suggested. Email Becky to sign up for this program. \nThis program is FREE for Members and FREE with Museum or Planetarium admission. \nDon’t see what you’re looking for?\nPrivate sensory hours can be scheduled by contacting Becky in the education department. Private sensory hours must be scheduled at least 2 weeks in-advance and will be an additional $50/hr. fee and have a maximum attendance of 8 guests.

DESCRIPTION:You are never too old to learn! Come to The Museum for this senior-friendly program to learn more details behind the exhibits at The Museum. \nRebecca Lawrence is the Manager of Education and Public Programs at Hershey Gardens\, where with her team of educators welcomes over 7500 school students each year to engage them in opportunities to learn about flora and fauna. She has over 20 years of experience in museum education\, working primarily in small to medium size institutions. Her first internship in the museum field was at the Reading Public Museum. \nWe’ll discuss Hershey Garden’s butterfly atrium as a habitat to support butterflies from around the world and our efforts to support native species. Attendees will leave with ideas on how they can support native wildlife at home. \n  \nThis program will run the 4th Friday of the month\, (*unless otherwise noted). +All documentaries are shown in The Neag Planetarium.
