LEGO® Build Contest at the Reading Public Musuem

 

Enter for a chance to show off your LEGO® engineering and building skills at The Reading Public Museum!  The Reading Public Museum invites individuals and groups to submit buildings and landmarks that represent the Reading and Berks County Communities.  

All entries MUST be able to be built physically, bricks will NOT be supplied by the Reading Public Museum.

We’re challenging you to build an entry that is either:

1. An architectural landmark from the Reading or Berks County areas.

OR

2. A scene from nature, locally or abroad.

WINNERS: 1 winner from each of 3 age groups (0-10yrs age group, 10-20 years age group, and 20+ age group) will be chosen across the two categories for a total of 6 winners. The winners will have their work exhibited at the Reading Public Museum for a 1 week period between July 15th  and August 31st, receive a complementary membership to The Museum. and a special gift from The RPM gift shop.

ENTRY DEADLINE: Submit your entry no later than June 25th

 

HOW IT WORKS

The contest will consist of 3 phases:  

Submission Phase - Build and submit a photo of your entry before June 25, 2021 at 6AM EST.

Judging Phase – Judges will review the entries and choose the winners by July 5, 2021.

Winners Announcement - We share the winners (for each category) on Facebook no later than July 15, 2021

HOW TO ENTER

  • Submissions must be built entirely out of LEGO® Bricks.
  • Take up to five photos of your creation and submit them to the contest by emailing Education@readingpublicmuseum.org Make sure to show off all angles and any features or functions of your creation.
  • Be sure to include in the body of the email:
    • Title of creation.
    • Short description of creation, no more than 4 sentences.
    • Creator(s) name, age, and hometown. 

 

CONTEST RULES 

ACCEPTABLE ENTRY CONTENT :

• You must be the original creator of all creative work you submit (the model, images, photographs, description text, etc.) and you must have the exclusive right to submit your model to this Contest. You may not submit a model or any other content made by, or on behalf of, someone else. 

• Entries must be new creations and not previously posted online or submitted to any other contest. 

• You are allowed to use any official LEGO® element (LEGO® System, LEGO DUPLO®, LEGO TECHNICÔ) in your entry. The LEGO® elements must be genuine (not cut, glued, or otherwise modified). 

• Entries should not contain copies or references to any other existing third-party work or creation or infringements of any third-party intellectual property right.

• You may use MinifiguresÔ in your entry. Please only use generic LEGO MinifiguresÔ that do not use any third party intellectual property

• Contest entries related to the topics below do not fit our values and will not be accepted are:
Politics and political symbols, campaigns, or movements 
Religious references including symbols, buildings, or people 
Sex, nudity, drugs, or smoking 
Alcohol in any present-day situation 
Swearing or profanity 
Death, killing, blood, terrorism, horror, or torture 
First-person shooter video games 
Warfare or war vehicles in any modern or present-day situation, or national war memorials 
Large or human-scale weapons or weapon replicas of any kind, including swords, knives, guns, sci-fi or fantasy blasters, etc. 
Racism, bullying, or cruelty to real life animals

 

ENTRY QUALITY STANDARDS 

• Entries must be no greater than  2 ft. in any direction ( width, height, depth)

• All entries must be made out of LEGO® Bricks

• All entries must be either individual OR school group entries.

• Please do not include people or limbs in pictures you submit. Also, please don't include any text or logos in your photos. Photos containing such will be disqualified.

 

HOUSE RULES 

• Entries containing defamatory or degrading elements will not be eligible for the contest. 

• Corporate entries and/or sponsored entries will not be accepted

• Any cheating or harassment of other participants will result in disqualification from the contest.  

 

JUDGING 

A panel of judges consisting Reading Public Museum Staff members.

• Overall coolness and originality: 25% 

• Most inspired details: 25% 

• Relevance to contest theme: 25% 

• Representation of local community: 25 %

 

THE FINE PRINT 

• Parent consent is needed for any entry for minors under age 18

• You may submit multiple entries to the contest and there is a possibility that more than one of your entries may be selected to be exhibited at The Reading Public Museum, however you will only receive one membership and gift.

• Winners will be contacted via the email address in-which the entry was summited no later than July 15th, 2021

• This contest is open to all Berks county residents and Reading Public Museum Members.

• By entering the contest, you agree to follow the rules on this Contest Brief page.

• This contest is offered, organized and run solely by The Reading Public Museum. Participants should direct all queries and matters relating to the Reading Public Museum via email at education@readingpublicmuseum.org.
