Volunteer Application

Thank you for your interest in the Reading Public Museum.

Our volunteer program is as "as needed basis" and we strive to give volunteers a choice in areas that would be rewarding to you and also enhance the Museum's mission. Please check off all areas you are interested in, and we will contact you when there is a need in that area or event.

(tasks such as: set up, filling eggs with candy, help on Easter morning hiding eggs, staking off areas, carriage rides, information/directions, etc.)

Art of the Craft: tasks may include:

  • Setup
  • Hospitality table: greet visitors, provide membership and general Museum information
  • Café sales
  • Commitment: at least one 2 ½ hour shift during Art of the Craft weekend

Education Assistance (development, preparation and implementation of programs for adults and children)

Summer Camp Teacher Assistant

Research Assistant(s) to work in galleries, registrar files, and storage areas of the Museum. Being detail-oriented is a must. Computer experience, especially database, is very helpful.

Science Volunteers to assist with varied science-related tasks such as exhibit and collections research, collections inventory, cataloging, data entry and maintenance. Requires a background in biology.

Shop Cashier - (tasks may include: Visitor reception and admissions, membership sales, shop merchandise sales. Requires commitment of at least 4 hours/week and/or training on register system)
