The Reading Public Museum offers scheduled workshops and sleepovers that align with its mission and the requirements for various Cub, Boy, and Girl Scout requirements. The Museum is the perfect place for your scouts to earn a variety of badges! From our collections featuring a 2,000-year-old mummy to art from around the world, to our 25-acre Arboretum, to our state-of-the-art Neag Planetarium, we have many incredible experiences to share with your scouts. All workshops are led by qualified, enthusiastic Museum Educators.

Scheduled Boy Scout Programming:

A minimum of 1 leader is required for every 10 scouts. Workshops are for scouts only. Day programs include Museum Admission.

A minimum of 1 leader is required for every 10 scouts. Workshops are for scouts only. Day programs include Museum Admission.

Special Agent Overnight
Friday – Saturday, March 9-10
6 p.m. – 8:30 a.m.
$35 per scout/$20 per adult

Explore the science of crime scene investigation! Join the staff at the Reading Public Museum as you look for fingerprints, put your eye-witness skills to the test, and much more! You’ll even spend the night in the Museum! All troops must meet girl-adult ratios for their group. Individual girls must be accompanied by a registered adult. All adults must have satisfactory background checks on file to participate in the program. At least one adult per group must have completed Indoor Overnight Skills. Includes a snack, breakfast and the Special Agent badge.

Saturday, March 17
10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
$15 per scout/$6 per adult

Help make the world a better place! Join your sister Girl Scouts and learn all about Rosie the Rose. Read her story, take a walk to learn about how the Reading Public Museum keeps the Arboretum in beautiful condition, come up with ways to reduce trash, and more! Attend Clover Petal in the afternoon and get both programs for $30. All troops must meet girl-adult ratios for their group. Individual girls must be accompanied by a registered adult. Completes the requirements for Rosie Petal.

1 – 3 p.m.
$15 per scout/$6 per adult

Want to learn how to use your resources wisely? Join your fellow Girl Scouts as you read Clover’s story, and then pay a visit to the Animal Habitats Gallery at the Reading Public Museum to see how animals can be resourceful, too! You’ll make a collage and participate in other fun activities. All troops must meet girl-adult ratios for their group. Individual girls must be accompanied by a registered adult. Completes requirements for the Clover Petal.

*Brownie Home Scientist
Saturday, April 14
9:30 a.m. – 12 p.m.
$15 per scout/$6 per adult

Want to learn more about science experiments that you can do right in your own home? Join the staff at the Reading Public Museum to see how science is used in cooking, experiment with static electricity, make an eruption, and more. Plus, you’ll take home your own homemade silly putty! All troops must meet girl-adult ratios for their group. Individual girls must be accompanied by a registered adult. Includes the Home Scientist badge.

*Brownie Hiker
Saturday, April 14
1 – 3:30 p.m.
$15 per scout/$6 per adult

Get ready to go on an adventure at the Reading Public Museum! You’ll learn how others get prepared before they set out on a journey, assemble your own hiking kit, and more! All troops must meet girl-adult ratios for their group. Individual girls must be accompanied by a registered adult. Includes the Hiker badge.

Saturday, April 14
1 – 3:30 p.m.
$15 per scout/$6 per adult

Do you love to paint? Come to the Reading Public Museum and tour our art galleries! You’ll learn how to paint a still-life using objects from our collections, make your own stamp, and try out different painting techniques. It will be a colorful time! All troops must meet girl-adult ratios for their group. Individual girls must be accompanied by a registered adult. Includes the painting badge.

Saturday, April 21
9:30 a.m. – 12 p.m.
$15 per scout/$6 per adult

Do you love art? How about math and science? Learn how the fields work together to create awesome new things. Draw inspiration from math, create a shrinky-drink necklace, and get charged up when you make a paper circuit. Attend Jr. Jeweler in the afternoon and get both programs for $32.00! All troops must meet girl-adult ratios for their group. Individual girls must be accompanied by a registered adult. Includes Jr. girlSTEM patch.

Saturday, April 21
1 – 4 p.m.
$15 per scout/$6 per adult

Let’s get bedazzled! Explore jewelry from different time periods and cultures, learn about jewelry making tools, and then make your very own accessories to take home! Attend Jr. girlSTEM in the morning and get both programs for a discount! All troops must meet girl-adult ratios for their group. Individual girls must be accompanied by a registered adult. Includes Jeweler badge.

*Cadettes Wonderful Woodworkers
Saturday, June 9
9:30 a.m. – 12 p.m.
$15 per scout/$6 per adult

Want to learn a new DIY skill? Get hands-on at the Reading Public Museum and dive into the art of wood-working. You’ll learn about different tools and get building tips from the pros. You’ll even build a project yourself! All troops must meet girl-adult ratios for their group. Individual girls must be accompanied by a registered adult. Includes the Woodworker badge.

*Senior Outdoor Expert
Saturday, June 9
1 – 4 p.m.
$15 per scout/$6 per adult

Want to combine your love of the outdoors and art? At the Reading Public Museum you’ll explore nature with an artist’s eye, and create art outside, too! Create a nature-inspired piece of jewelry, design an outdoor labyrinth, and more. All troops must meet girl-adult ratios for their group. Individual girls must be accompanied by a registered adult. Includes the Outdoor Art Expert badge.
