Galleries: Cove Gallery
The Family Learning Center
If
you’ve been to the Museum with your children or grandchildren lately,
you probably noticed a new addition. The ground floor gallery formerly
known as the Cove Gallery, has been transformed into the Family Learning
Center. With each new special exhibition, the Center has taken on a
new name and identity; but always promoting hands-on learning through
discovery and play. Children have learned about fiber arts in the Creative
Corner, honed their equestrian knowledge in the Kids’
Corral (photo, left); become bikers in the Junior Bike Shop;
and swam with sea creatures in Underwater World.
Currently,
you can come enjoy the Family Learning Center Reading Room
(photo, right). The area is a playful and cozy room with great children’s
books – a perfect summer retreat. This October, the Center will become
Backstage in conjunction with the Museum’s major exhibition
The Magic
of Hollywood: The Gene London Costume Collection. Through the
duration of this exhibition, boys and girls alike will be able to role
play with costumes and extravagant fashions in the Backstage area. Parents,
bring your cameras – this is a photo op not to be missed!
