February 26 through July 7, 2011
More than twenty outstanding drawings, watercolors, etchings, and engravings from Hudson River School artists will be on view in the Works on Paper Gallery. Lyrical landscapes, seascapes, lake views, pastoral scenes, and images of the American West rarely on view to the public will provide an excellent opportunity to examine these works through the lens of national identity and pride in the natural wonders of the land.
The show complements the American Scenery exhibition in the second floor temporary galleries and draws on The Museum's rich collection of works on paper. George Inness, William Trost Richards, Carl Weber, Edmund Darch Lewis, William Stanley Haseltine, Thomas Bigelow Craig, Peter Moran, Thomas Moran, Robert Swain Gifford, George Wainwright Harvey, and others will be featured in the exhibition.
