The
mission of the Reading Public Museum, a dynamic
center of lifelong learning, is to collect, preserve
and interpret objects of art, science and civilization
in order to educate, enlighten and engage current
and future generations.
The
last admission for the public will be a half hour
before closing.
We
have group tours available if you have 15 people
or more. Reservations required. Call 610-371-5850
ext. 227 to schedule tours.
Free
parking is available on the Museum property. During
special events, please observe signs for extra
parking.
The
Museum is closed Martin
Luther King, Jr. Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving
Day, Christmas Day and New
Year's Day. All other holidays
the Museum is open from 12pm to 4pm. (including
Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve).
The
Museum is closed every Monday. The only
exception is when a holiday other
than Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Memorial Day,
Christmas Day and New Year's Day falls on a Monday
(i.e. President's Day, Columbus Day, 4th of July,
etc.) In those special cases, the Museum will
be open from Noon to 4pm.
Please
note: In preparation for the opening of our new
Works on Paper Gallery (September 2008), and to
provide a better, safer environment for our art
collection storage, we have temporarily closed
certain Galleries during renovations. They are
scheduled for reopening in mid-2008. Those areas
affected are: 20th Century Gallery (2nd Floor);
Pennsylvania German Gallery (2nd Floor); and approximately
2/3 of the Pacific Islands Gallery (First Floor).

The
Museum Shop is open during Museum hours. No admission
fee for browsing. Visa and MasterCard accepted.
Please
note, paintings, objects and artists represented
on the Web site may not be on view at all times.
There
are no weddings or wedding receptions permitted
IN the Museum. If you would like to have
your wedding ceremony on or your wedding photos
taken on the Museum grounds, please call 610-371-5850
x230. There are no wedding receptions and/or set-ups
permitted on the Museum grounds. By calling, we
do not guarantee exclusivity.
