The popular Sunday morning series continues for a third season with two highly anticipated performances! Join us for light breakfast and live music from 10:00 a.m. to noon in the beautiful Atrium at the Reading Public Museum. Doors open at 9:30 a.m.

Sunday, October 19 - The Cullen Haley Family

Join us as this musically gifted family performs original jazz and classical numbers along with innovative arrangements and interpretations of works by Bach, Corelli and Marcello. The quintet consists of locally-based musicians David Cullen, guitar; Jill Haley, oboe and English horn; and their three children, Risa Cullen, viola and piano; Graham Cullen, cello and Dana Cullen, French horn and piano.

David Cullen, a graduate of the Hartt School of Music, is a Grammy Award winning guitarist who has performed throughout the nation with artists such as Will Ackerman, Michael Manring, Victor Wooten, Samite, Peter Nero and members of The Philadelphia Orchestra. Currently an Artist-in-Residence at Elizabethtown College, as well as a music instructor at both Kutztown University and West Chester University, Cullen performs in a wide range of musical styles including jazz, classical and world music. His publications, DVD performances and CD releases have made him a mainstay in the local and international music scene, continuing to perform for classical guitar societies, jazz festivals and performing arts series across North America.

Jill Haley has performed with the Reading Symphony, Pottstown Symphony, York Symphony, Schuylkill Symphony and the Pennsylvania Symphonia. Haley has also performed nationally with folk singer Kevin Roth, Will Ackerman and her acoustic trio One Alternative, fusing elements of classical, folk and jazz.

Risa, Graham and Dana Cullen are students at Exeter Senior High School who have spent their past summers studying music at Kinhaven Chamber Music School in Weston, VT. After touring Italy with the Reading Symphony Youth Orchestra as principal French horn, Dana has also performed Beethoven Piano Concerto #1 with the Reading Symphony Orchestra. Risa and Graham have both performed at the Kimmel Center with the Philadelphia Young Artists Orchestra.

Sunday, November 23 - Beaucoup Blue

Beaucoup Blue, the Philadelphia-based father and son duo of David and Adrian Mowry, combine a soulful mix of traditional and contemporary style into an innovative and authentic sound. A range of instruments like six and twelve string guitars, slide guitar, Dobro and their two soulful voices blend together like only family members can. For this special occasion, the duo will be performing with acoustic jazz bassist Bill Zinno, a member of the Delaware Symphony.

Although Blues is a staple in their “steeped-in-Americana” repertoire, Beaucoup Blue’s music is also influenced by their love of Folk, Soul, R&B, Jazz, Country, and Bluegrass. These interests and influences are reflected in their original songwriting in a unique way.

Beaucoup Blue’s performance will complement the exhibition Born to be Wild: Adventures in the Art of Motorcycle Design, opening at the Reading Public Museum on Friday, October 3.

Admission to “Bagels & Bach” is $25 for non-Members and $15 for Members, and includes admission to the Museum after the show. Reservations suggested (for food count only), but not necessary (610-371-5850 x 264).
