Theresienstadt's Children and Their Art
This impactive exhibition features more than 30 objects from the Beit Theresienstadt Holocaust Museum, Archive and Educational Center in Israel. The works, including collages, drawings, embroidery, dolls, diaries, magazines, games, and marionettes, were created by children at the Theresienstadt ghetto in what is now the Czech Republic.
The Theresienstadt Ghetto, established in November 1941, was allegedly to be a "Jewish town" for the Protectorate Jews, but was in fact a Concentration and Transit Camp, which functioned until its liberation in 1945. Approximately 90 percent of the children perished in the camp. For many of the children, these objects are the only things that remain from their lives.
Join us and other area business professionals for a mini-tour and discussion with our Curator of Art and Civilization, Scott Schweigert.
