Themed tours are listed below by gallery. Tours of more than one gallery can be arranged depending on group size and visit length. Each tour is customized for specific age/grade.

Ancient Egypt (Ancient Civilizations Gallery – 1 st Floor)
Description: Learn about hieroglyphics, ancient Egyptian religion, and mummification, as well as the Museum’s mummy Nefrina.

Greece, Rome and the Near East (Ancient Civilizations Gallery – 1st Floor)
Description: Learn about the art, artifacts and people who made them from the civilizations of the ancient Near East, Greece and Rome. Discover the contributions that these cultures made that we still use today.

African Cultures (Africa Gallery – 1st Floor)
Description: Understand the peoples of the largest continent in the world and travel throughout the southeast African mountains and plains.

Knights in Shining Armor (Arms and Armor Gallery)
Description: Learn about life in the Middle Ages, the code of chivalry, and how one became a knight.

Art and Culture of Asia (Asian Gallery – 1st Floor and Asian Art Gallery – 2nd Floor)
Description: Explore the Far East on this dynamic tour through Asian art and history. Discover the heritage of China, Japan and Southeast Asia on this cultural quest.
North American Indian Cultures (North American Indian Gallery – 1st Floor)
Description: Learn about the indigenous people of this country from the objects they created and how their geographic location shaped their individual cultures. This gallery includes selections from the local Lenape, the peoples of the plains, southwest, northwest coast and the arctic.

Art in Ancient and Historic Latin America (Latin American Gallery – 1st Floor)
Description: Explore the civilizations of the Aztec, Maya, Inca and Nazca through the objects in this gallery. This newly designed gallery also features objects related to the Day of the Dead and the ancient MesoAmerican ballgame.

Animal Habitats (Natural Science Gallery – 1st Floor)
Description: This gallery introduces the concepts of animal habitats, the water table, and geography of our region.

Earth, Rocks, and Fossils (Earth Science Gallery – 1st Floor)
Description: Learn about the many physical changes that the earth and its inhabitants have undergone over time through the various rocks, minerals, and fossils displayed in this gallery.

Island Cultures (Pacific Islands Gallery – 1st Floor)
Description: Travel to the other side of the earth to learn about the unique island cultures such as Hawaii, Australia, the Pacific Islands, and the Philippines.

European Art – the Renaissance and Beyond (European Gallery 14th – 18th C. – 2nd Floor)
Description: This gallery shows examples of the various traditions in European art including religious, history, genre and portrait painting; sculpture and decorative arts.European Art –

19th Century (European Gallery – 19th C. – 2nd Floor)
Description: The 19th century gave rise to some of the most important movements in art. Discover the Museum’s collection which includes paintings from the Barbizon school as well as the Impressionists such as Edgar Degas and Mary Cassatt.
