Our "place in space" is the focus of
this exciting program. A host of endangered animals
explore the cause of day and night, the importance
of our star the sun, the beauty of the constellations,
and a variety of objects that make up our solar
system and galaxy, the Milky Way.

A mission to the space station provides the frame
as we explore the ways in which astronauts from
the US, Russia, Japan and other nations work together
in space. The live sections give your audience
the chance to look for the station in their own
home sky.

Explorers of Mauna Kea
40 Minutes - Grades 5 and Up
Explore Mauna Kea, "the white mountain"
on the island of Hawaii: from its geological formation
a million years ago to the cutting edge astronomy
done on the mountain now with the biggest telescopes
in the world. The audience turns itself into a
model of the Keck mirror system, using 36 mirrors
to concentrate light onto a single target.

The Origin of Stars," answers many basic
questions about stars and explores the connection
between the formation of stars and the formation
of everything else in the Universe - from galaxies
to planets to humans.

This show focuses on how Ancient Polynesians used
the stars to travel from Tahiti to Hawaii. After
learning to identify constellations and observe
what daily motion can tell you about way-finding
and latitude changes, participants will be able
to plan and carry out an exploration during the
